Geoff Wilson has been involved in the markets for longer than he’d care to admit. He has over 35 years’ direct experience in investment markets having held a variety of senior investment roles in Australia, the UK and the US. Geoff founded Wilson Asset Management in 1997. Geoff created Australia’s first listed philanthropic wealth creation vehicles, the Future Generation companies.
Starting off in the 1980's as a trainee portfolio manager for Scottish Amicable, his career in the markets has taken him to senior positions in the broking and funds management world in Sydney, Melbourne, London and New York.
Prior to founding Wilson Asset Management in 1997 he headed up institutional sales at Prudential Bache Securities. Since WAM has kicked off, it is fair to say that his Group’s investment returns have been stunning. To mid-September 2011, its equity fund has returned almost 24 per cent a year over the past 13 years. This means it has outperformed the All Ordinaries Index by close to 16 per cent a year over that time.
Geoff holds a Bachelor of Science, a Graduate Management Qualification and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Geoff Wilson is currently Chairman of WAM Research Limited, WAM Active Limited, WAM Leaders Limited and the Australian Stockbrokers Foundation.
He is the Founder and a Director of Future Generation Global Investment Company Limited and Future Generation Investment Company Limited and a Director of Australian Leaders Fund Limited, Clime Capital Limited, Global Value Fund Limited, Century Australia Investments Limited, Incubator Capital Limited, Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation, the Australian Fund Managers Foundation, Odyssey House McGrath Foundation, the Australian Children’s Music Foundation and he is a Member of the Second Bite NSW Advisory Committee.
